Go the extra mile

September 23, 2017

Getting this shot was particularly interesting. It's a pity that we didn't take a behind the scenes shot to show you how it was achieved, but I'll try my best to explain.

The gap between the bales was not as spacious as it might look in this shot. We all had to squeeze through tight spaces to get into position. The main challenge was to position the light. So the light assistant had to climb up one of the bale stacks, balance and hold a battery powered studio strobe with a 120cm octobox! This is you can imagine, is not the easiest of things to do.

But I have to admit, the outcome was quite rewarding.

Camera Settings:

Nikon D750 + 85mm f1.8 @ f4, ISO 50, 1/800 sec with a Flashpoint Rovelight set on 1/4 power and HSS enabled. Phottix odin triggers used.
